The Czech national football team will play Sweden in the first round of the World Cup play-offs. The eight-finalist of this year’s Euro has a young and ambitious team, filled with experienced players. Who are the biggest movers and shakers?
Emil Forsberg
If any of the Swedes had a great Euro, it was definitely them. Forsberg has an excellent kicking technique and overview of the game, he is the leader of the team and the game is based on him. If he can’t do it, the rest of the team is half-hearted. He has had a hand in fourteen national team goals since the start of 2020.
Alexander Isak
At twenty years old, he has plenty of experience in adult football. This year and especially last year he shone at Real Sociedad, his nimble feet, unpredictability and ability to zigzag make him a big threat. In the last two years he has scored five goals and assisted six times for the senior national team.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic
The Scandinavian legend has not been wearing the yellow and blue jersey very regularly in recent months, but should take part in the barrage if he is in good health. And Ibrahimovic’s presence alone can affect the performance of every single player in the line-up.
Victor Lindelöf
Being a stopper at Manchester United today is not very commendable, but Victor Lindelöf, unlike Harry Maguire, doesn’t miss nearly as often. He occasionally wears the captain’s armband, and has an unusually good delivery for a stopper.
Dejan Kulusevski
He’s not scoring for the national team for reasons that are unclear, but the fact that he’s wearing a Juventus jersey at the age of twenty-one speaks volumes about his qualities. The quick, technical, left-footed winger is still searching for form this year, hopefully he won’t find it before March.
