What are the odds for the Czech national football team coach and who is the favourite?
The Czech national football team led by coach Jaroslav Šilhavy did not qualify for the upcoming World Cup. Šilhavy’s team has a contract until the end of June and the federation will decide whether to extend his contract or look for a new coach. Let’s take a look at which adepts for the national team coach have the best chances according to the Tipsport bookmaker.
Ivan Hašek – 1,2::1
Ivan Hašek is clearly the biggest favourite. His odds have dropped to 1,2::1 in a short time. His connection to the sports council, which will select the coach, certainly plays a role in this. At the head of this council is Vladimír Šmicer, who makes no secret of his friendship with Ivan Hašek.
The fifty-eight-year-old Hašek is one of the legends of Czech football. He already led the national team in 2009, when he was also the first man of the federation, then still called the ČMFS. He is currently coaching the Lebanon national team, which has already lost its chances of qualifying for the World Cup.
Jaroslav Šilhavy – 5::1
The current coach of the Czech national team is considered by one half of the public as the main culprit of the failed barrage to the World Cup and by the other half praised for the improved performance of the team. It is true that last year’s European Championship was a success, but on the other hand, the third place in the qualifying group for the World Cup and the subsequent barrage is a certain failure. The coach is blamed for poor substitutions, even though he surprised his opponents with the tactics he used going into the barrage.
It will be important how the management of the federation will approach the whole matter. Earlier, things sparked between the president of the federation Fousek and the coaching staff after the qualification ended, when the implementation team was satisfied with the third place, while Fousek was not.
Vítězslav Lavicka – 10::1
He signed a short-term four-month contract this month and will lead the Kuwait national team as they look to qualify for the Asian Cup. After that, a decision will be made on whether to extend the contract by one year or if Lavicka will be available to take over the Czech national team.
In the past, he has managed to win the Czech league with Sparta and Liberec and advanced to the 2017 UEFA European Under-21 Championship in Poland as coach of the Lions.
Jindřich Trpišovský – 12::1
A very successful coach, but he has 3 years left on his contract at Slavia and cannot be expected to be released for the needs of the national team. Trpišovský is appreciated for the way players can improve under his guidance and many of them go to prestigious clubs in Europe. The entire Czech national team also benefits from this and so his staying on the Czech club scene may be more beneficial for the Czech national team.
Petr Rada – 15::1
Zdenek Sčasný – 17::1
Pavel Hapal – 20::1
Martin Svedik – 25::1
Michal Bílek – 30::1
Pavel Vrba – 40::1
Frantisek Straka – 60::1
Karel Jarolim – 70::1
