Real Madrid won the Champions League and now have two obligations for next season – the UEFA Super Cup and the Club World Cup. However, the date of the clash between the continent’s top teams is still unknown as next season will be deadline day deadly.
The Club World Cup is regularly contested by the winners of the FIFA Confederations competitions, previously it was regularly played in December before Christmas, last year Chelsea won the trophy in February. But the date of the next edition is still unknown.
For Real Madrid, this is causing quite a lot of concern. The champion of La Liga and the Champions League will start the season on 10 August in Helsinki in the UEFA Super Cup against the winner of the Europa League, Frankfurt. A month earlier, on 8 July, Carlo Ancelotti’s charges will start their preparations.
14. la Liga will then begin on August, with the Champions League kicking off in the first week of September. The first weekend in November, club football will break and preparations for the World Cup will begin. The championship in Qatar will end on 18 December, then La Liga will start immediately without a break. In January 2023 (11-15), Real Madrid will travel to Saudi Arabia for the Spanish Super Cup, followed by the Copa del Rey.
Unless something unexpected happens, the Champions League will return in February, while La Liga and Copa del Rey will resume.
What will happen with the Club World Cup?
Therefore, the big question mark is what will happen with the Club World Cup. Which date will it be slotted into? Because the number of matches will increase incredibly and the question is clear:: Can Real Madrid’s squad handle such a load?
If Real do well and progress further in the season, one player could play up to 70 games. His working hours would be from 8 July 2022 to 10 July 2023, when next year’s Champions League final is played, if all goes to plan.
38 league games, 13 possible in the Champions League, 2 in the Spanish Super Cup, one in the European Cup, two more in the Club World Cup and more than ten in the national team. That’s a huge load that the body may not be able to withstand.
