West Ham have won two of the last three rounds but are still struggling in terms of performance. It was pleased to draw with Belgian side Gent in the Conference League on Thursday, and is three points above the relegation zone in 14th place in the league table.
Arsenal have now dropped out of all cups and are concentrating on the Premier League. Tabuk still leads by six points, but second-placed Manchester City have a game in hand. Of the last eight rounds, the Gunners have only lost for a draw at Liverpool.
West Ham’s key figures
The home side’s midfield is held by Hammers captain and England international Declan Rice, author of two goals and four assists. The winter signing from Aston Villa is also on a tally with the autumn of ten goals and two assists.
Arsenal’s key figures
Bukayo Saka is the big leader at 21, the England international winger has netted 13 goals and ten assists. Gabriel Martinelli is the top Brazilian scorer in the Top 5 leagues, assisting five times on goal in addition to his 14 shots.
West Ham’s attack is surprisingly not working, only four league teams have scored less than his 27 goals. The Hammers have struck more than once in only one of their last six games, and that was against Larnaca in Cyprus.
Arsenal, on the other hand, are pedalling offensively, with Leandro Trossard likely to take much of the competition in attack. The Gunners are only three goals worse than the Citizens with 72 shots, they have struck more than once in seven of their last eight games.
Given the comfort in the cabin of a healed Arsenal squad, the excellent productivity of the offense, and given the Hammers’ busy schedule, I think the rested Gunners will prevail away.
