The British newspaper The Sun has come out with a report that Tomas Soucek’s future at West Ham is uncertain. Several teams have immediately become more anxious, because they would like to catch such a player in their team.
Tomáš Souček, who celebrated his 27th birthday this year, has a contract in London until 2024. During the season, Hammers manager David Moyes started negotiations with the Czech international on an improved contract. However, the negotiations ended because Moyes did not like Soucek’s performance.
A drop in form and broken negotiations over an improved contract led to the first speculation that Soucek’s time in east London had come to fruition. Italian side Juventus emerged as the first suitors. The latter was interested in the Czech, but that interest dropped when Paul Pogba joined the team for free. However, this team would still be interested at a reasonable price.
Tomas Soucek moved from Slavia to West Ham for 16.2 million euros, before that the Hammers paid 4.5 million euros for a guest appearance. Now Soucek’s value is up to around €45 million according to Transfermarkt.
Other interested parties for the midfielder include three English teams. These are Everton, Aston Villa and Newcastle. The transfer sum that West Ham could nod for is expected to be around 30 million euros.
Each of these suitors would have something to offer Soucek, just as Tomas Soucek would have something to offer them. We’ll see if he’s tempted by the sheiks at Newcastle or perhaps Gerrard at Aston Villa. There is still a chance he stays in London, but he would have to make a huge effort to regain the trust of David Moyes.
