West Ham’s French defender Kurt Zouma is being pilloried for a video leaked to the public. In it, he is very rude to his cat.
As if the Hammers don’t have enough to contend with this season. Management’s inability to bring in a quality second striker, a packed schedule of games, numerous injuries. To top it all off, they now have to deal with the disciplinary infraction of their player.
A video was leaked to the public on Monday in which West Ham’s French stopper Kurt Zouma is the main actor in the storyline. The unfortunate creature featured in the video is also Zouma’s pet, namely a cat. The player chases it around his home and treats it very inappropriately – kicking and slapping it on the head at least once.
According to the player, the cat broke an expensive vase and scratched expensive parts of the interior.
“I would like to apologise to anyone who feels offended by this video,” Sky Sports quotes the 27-year-old as saying.
“Our two cats are fine and absolutely healthy. They are loved by the whole family and this behaviour towards them will never happen again.”
The incident is being dealt with legitimately not only in the public arena but also at club level. Logically, the RSPCA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals), which finds Zouma’s actions very alarming, has also weighed in.
The RSPCA appreciated that people have drawn attention to the player’s behaviour towards his cat and the incident is being investigated.
