West Ham beat Liverpool at home and jumped to third place with a 3-2 win. This ended Liverpool’s run of twenty league games without a loss. The hero of the match is two-goal Pablo Fornals.

West Ham scored the opening goal in the fourth minute. Pablo Fornals scored directly from a corner kick and the goal was confirmed by VAR. Liverpool weren’t at their best, with little going forward.

It wasn’t until the 32nd minute that Diogo Jota got his head to the ball, but shot over. In the 41st minute, the visitors celebrated as Trent Alexander Arnold gave Lukas Fabianski no chance from a direct kick.

At the end of the first half, Liverpool did not capitalize on any more chances and went into the box with a 1:1 scoreline.

The second half started as the first. This time, however, Declan Rice only hit the crossbar after a corner kick. In the 67th minute, the crowd was roaring. Fornals ran in behind the defence and was lucky to get a shot past Alisson.

A minute later, Diogo Jota could have equalised again, but his header only found the side netting. And he was sorry. In the 74th minute, Kurt Zouma took a centre from the right and headed in from an angle.

But the Reds didn’t give up, and in the 82nd minute, thanks to a nice shot by Divock Origi, they got within striking distance. The Belgian spearhead still had a goal worth a point in stoppage time, but it was only headed into the middle of the net. Liverpool thus leave the London Stadium with nothing.
