West Ham don’t need me? I’m sorry when people in the Czech Republic write about me like that, Souček complained. They sing my name in England
Tomas Soucek scored a very important draw for West Ham at Brentford in Saturday’s sixth round Premier League match. However, in an interview after the game he admitted that he was sorry to hear that the Hammers don’t need him anymore. In London he obviously feels the opposite.

- Tomáš Souček secured an important point for West Ham in the 1-1 draw
- West Ham were down to Brentford from the first minute, it was Soucek who equalised in the second half
- The Czech international complained about the way he is written about in the Czech Republic, but loved in London
West Ham are not having an ideal start to the new Premier League season. Before the game against Brentford, he had five games under his belt, including one for three points when the Hammers beat Crystal Palace 2-0.
However, it should be added that they had very tough opponents to start the competition – Aston Villa (1:2), Manchester City (1:3) and Chelsea (0:3). West Ham couldn’t even pull off a win against Fulham, which ended in a 1:1 draw.
The club from London had an important match in the sixth round of the Premier League, against Brentford. But when Bryan Mbeumo scored in the first minute, it looked like a disappointing result.
But West Ham did not give up and pressed their opponents several times in the second half. And at least this equalizer was scored by Tomas Soucek to give his team at least a point for the 1-1 draw. The visitors from London didn’t add any more shots.
In the context of this, the Czech international complained in his post-match interview about the way he is written about in the Czech Republic. That is, as a player that West Ham no longer need.
I appreciate what I mean to West Ham, says Soucek
“I was a bit sad when the Czech media wrote about me that West Ham don’t need me anymore and that they don’t like me here,” Soucek admitted in a post-match interview, with a reporter subsequently reassuring him otherwise. That is, that they love him in London.
“I appreciate what I mean to West Ham and what West Ham means to me. It’s a great connection that has lasted almost five years. I feel great here. I’m happy that the coach, my teammates and other people at the club believe in me. I even heard the fans singing my name,” continued the Czech national team captain.
“We’ve had a lot of changes recently, a new coach and new players. Of course we would like to be higher in the table, but we still have something to play for in the league and FA Cup. I am convinced that we will improve. We have another big game next week (at home to Ipswich) and we will want to succeed before the national break,” Soucek concluded.
