We’re not playing as a team, the Hag raged. No news for Manchester United players, though. There is a lack of respect for the jersey they wear

Disappointment, surrender, that’s roughly what you could call Manchester United’s performance especially in the second half. We have seen a similar picture several times recently. The players lack respect and have not an ounce of fear of going out like this for the rest of the game. Erik the Hag then just shakes his head in disbelief on the bench.

Manchester United didn’t come into the Liverpool game at all badly and were perhaps even more dangerous. However, they went into the booths with a 1: 0 scoreline, which represented some hope. However, it was quickly stomped into the ground by Jurgen Klopp’s charges who eventually demolished their arch enemy 7: 0.

“I have no explanation for this. We were in control of the first half. Maybe we had better chances, although we made one mistake. But we were not a team in defence, we didn’t stick to the plan, there were eleven individuals on the pitch. It was really bad,” the Dutch coach found only negative words after the game.

It was not the first time he had seen a similarly committed performance at Manchester United. Just from the edge of the season the players shone against Brentford, who beat them 4: 0. Less than two months later in the city derby with Citizens they scored 6 times, but the cruel result was mitigated by three goals.

“I told the players my opinion. It’s unprofessional, you have to stick together as a team, fight together, and we didn’t do that. We were really undisciplined in our work. You can fail, but what can’t happen is that you don’t stick together. You have to do your job,” the Hag continued.

How glad Harry Maguire, who was sitting on the Anfield bench watching everything from where he was not on the pitch, must have been. For he was due to celebrate his 30th birthday on Sunday. However, Fred was born on the same day and in the same year, but he was already on the pitch. It must be said that the Brazilian midfielder was one of those players who did not give a literally terrible performance.

Overpaid Manchester United players

After the departure of Alex Ferguson, we have witnessed similar events many times unfortunately for Red Devil fans. However, this is the third time it has happened this season, which is a lot indeed.

During the era of the famous Scottish coach, Manchester United also blew up several times, the worst defeat was certainly the city derby from the autumn of 2011, when Manchester City won at Old Trafford 6: 1. After that, however, he took 25 of a possible 27 league points.

But unfortunately, a similarly outgoing performance has been somewhat more common in recent years than Red Devils fans would have imagined. And the reasons could be many. From my personal point of view, the most important one is that the team is incredibly rotated year after year. Club affiliation is no longer the most important thing.

The salaries are so huge that it’s hard to really appreciate anything. And that Manchester United have really overpaid players in recent years! All I can say is, have you ever seen Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs or Nemanja Vidic walk off a game like that? The current team have done it for the third time this season!

The Dutch coach needs to get players back at Old Trafford who won’t overpay and will fight and respect their jersey, fearing sacking. Otherwise we will see similar pictures in the future.

“I’m really disappointed and angry, especially for our fans. We let them down, but also as a team, as a squad, you can’t let this happen. You have to stick together, you have to fight together and support each other and you have to defend. And we didn’t do that,” the Hag finished his assessment of the match.
