We’re not giving up! sounds from Eden after the loss to Sparta. Penalty was harsh, we’ll hold Ogbu like Ousou, says Holeš

The title is almost decided. Slavia must hope that Sparta does not get four points in the last three rounds after they failed to win the derby and were beaten 3:2 at home. How did the captain Tomáš Holeš evaluate the match?
A great day for Sparta and Brian Priske and a sad day for the whole Slavia. Letná Letna defeated the Sešiovans for the first time this season, winning 3:2 at Letná in the most important Prague derby.
Sparta more or less resigned themselves to possession of the ball in the match, as their players had the ball only 17% of the time. However, even that was not enough to score three goals. Slavia managed to tie the score twice in the match, but the third time they couldn’t find a recipe to overcome the opponent’s defence.
The match was decided by a penalty in stoppage time of the second half. Igoh Ogbu made a risky and unnecessary foul on Awer Mabila. Ladislav Krejci handled the penalty kick.
“I only vaguely remember it, but I was hoping it would be called off. Igoh went awkwardly into a slip in the whitewash, that can’t happen in a game like that. At first I thought Mabil just fell over him, the referee saw it differently. For me, a strict penalty,” Tomas Holeš assessed the penalty for the club website.
However, the captain of Slavia claims that as Ogbu held Slavia with his performances in the spring, when he played great and for example scored in the first spring derby at 3:2, his teammates in the booth held him up: ” Such things happen in football. He has a great future ahead of him. We will hold him up just like Aihama Ousoa.”
Holeš then thinks that Slavia gave their best performance of the derby against Sparta on Saturday and dominated the game, but were brought down by personal mistakes. For example, standard situations from which Sparta scored twice.
The chances for the title are minimal, Sparta need four points to win the title. “A big disappointment. The point difference is big. We are not giving up anything, but we know how to count. In the spring we lost too many points in games against weaker opponents, we shouldn’t have got into this position in the first place. We wanted to win the title, I’m sorry,” Holeš described his feelings.
However, out of the last three matches, Slavia still play at home and want to present a good game in front of their fans and entertain them. They also want to win and as long as there is still a mathematical chance, the Sešiovans intend to play to their full potential and finish the season with dignity. So there will be no shortage of motivation.
