Sparta will play a very important match of the second round of the European Conference League in the evening. In Norway they will play Viking, with whom they only drew 0:0 at home. What did stopper and captain Dávid Hancko say before the rematch?
The opening match was a 0:0 draw. The result was quite surprising considering the pre-match predictions, Viking was clouded the whole game and Sparta players couldn’t get through the defensive wall.
But Sparta had a lot of chances and shots and if they had won by a higher margin, nobody could have argued anything. How does captain Dávid Hancko see the rematch?
“The coaches and the management made it clear to us what our goal is. We want to advance. I would not like to say whether we have to or want to. As a team we have set it clearly.
At home, the results were not to our liking, but our activity was obvious. I believe it’s just a goal short. Hopefully we can break it and take the promotion,” he said at the press conference.
But in Stavanger they will have to play on artificial grass, on which it is forbidden to play competitive league matches in domestic waters. What kind of change is that?
“It’s a change especially for the body. You feel more fatigue because the artificial grass is a bit harder than normal grass. But when it’s wet, it’s quite similar. I wouldn’t see that much difference. With our quality, we should be able to handle it,” he added.
