Petr Mrazek caught 38 shots for the Florida Panthers and contributed significantly to the Chicago Blackhawks’ 5:2 victory. Connor Bedard, this year’s number one draft pick, also scored against last year’s Stanley Cup finalists.
Bedard scored for the third game in a row when he took the puck in the second period, sprinted to the Florida goal and scored a perfect slap shot to make it 4:0. Chicago was able to win at home for the third time. They have not been able to celebrate in front of their home fans.
“We showed what kind of hockey we can play and what we can do on the ice. We worked hard in practice this week and it paid off. Especially the first period showed that we want to forget about the last game.
In the end they had a lot of shots and also a lot of screens, that’s why you have to keep reading the game. Theguys in front of me did a good job,” said Petr Mrazek after the game.
The Czech goalie also praised the youngster Bedard for not being afraid of the black work, but he can help out in the back as well. The 18-year-old Canadian has already collected 7 points for 5 goals and 2 assists in 10 games this season.
“Nice block. It’s always great when any of the guys do that and help you out. Obviously, there are things that the younger guys are just going to learn as they go along. They’re doing a good job at it so far, it’s a process. We also have older players and we all have to help them in their development,” concluded Mrazek.
Chicago has only won 4 times this season and 6 times failed to score a point, which makes them one of the worst teams in the NHL.
The Blackhawks will face the New Jersey Devils, Tampa Bay Lightning and the Florida Panthers on November 12th.
