Paris Saint-Germain failed to score a single goal in the second leg of their Champions League semi-final against Bayern Munich. After the 0:1 and 0:2 results, they bid farewell to football’s most famous competition, even though Kylian Mbappé thinks his team played their best.

Kylian Mbappé, one of PSG’s biggest stars, could not cope with the German champion’s solid defence, even though many fans believed in it. The French striker appeared on several occasions, but never once did he celebrate scoring a goal.

The top scorer in PSG’s history didn’t enter the first game until the second half due to a minor injury, but he still managed to score. He was subsequently sent off for offside.

After the opening game of the Champions League semi-final, which ended 1-0 to the team from Bavaria, Mbappé said that they would do their absolute best in the rematch. The second leg ended 2-0 again for Bayern.

“It is true that this is our maximum. If you look at both teams, they are perfectly set up to play the Champions League,” said Kylian Mbappé in a press conference after losing the rematch.

“We will go back to our daily life, to the league. We have to move on. We lost against a great team. All that matters now is to win the league, ” the French star added.

The Parisian side leads Ligue 1 with an eight-point lead, so the title is almost assured, which is why many believed they could go further in the Champions League. After being eliminated in the eighth round, a number of several questions arise.

Will Christophe Galtier, PSG’s head coach, remain in his position after winning their only trophy this season? Kylian Mbappé may have signed a new contract last year, but will he stay after another Champions League fiasco? What will happen with Neymar and Lionel Messi? Perhaps the upcoming summer transfer window will answer some of these questions.
