The Czech national team drew 1-1 with Ukraine thanks to a goal at the end of the match. Players who weren’t so busy were also involved in the match and coach Jaroslav Šilhavý was satisfied with their performance. What did he say at the press conference after the draw?

Ukraine chose a combination line-up for the match with the Czech team, and Jaroslav Šilhavý also approached the match in a similar way. He gave opportunities to Václav Jemelka, Milan Havel, Michal Sadilek and Jaroslav Zmrhal.

But what many fans didn’t like was the deployment of Vladimír Coufal, Tomáš Souček or Tomáš Holeš, who are very busy and have no chance to regenerate properly. As well as the half-time arrival of Adam Hložek.

Many may not agree with the line-up, but it was still a game to watch. It seemed that the Czech team would lose 0:1 in Plzeň, but then Matěj Vydra intervened and scored the equalizer in the fourth minute of the setup to make it 1:1.

“We were really happy, even though it was not for points. But it doesn’t happen very often that you can equalise like that in the last seconds of a match. I think it was a well-deserved reward because I think we played a great game against a good Ukraine.

We put them under pressure. Even though we were losing, we had a lot of chances. And the fact that it came in the last seconds made it all the better,” said the Czech coach at the press conference.

“The workload of the players was somehow arranged. We communicated with the clubs, and last but not least with the players before the game because of the workload and fatigue. We prepared a plan for the match and I am glad that it worked out. Normally, Tomas Soucek would not have made a substitution. We did it the way we wanted and it turned out well,” he added.
