Everton FC are the club that would reach for Mourinho if they sack their current coach Rafael Benítez.
The famous Portuguese only took charge of the Italian side this July. In any case, he recently let it be known that he is open to a return to England. Of course, if the right opportunity presents itself.
And that, it seems, is knocking at the door at the moment. And this is despite the fact that Mourinho has a contract in Rome until 30 June 2024. The pressure on Benítez has been massively increased after the loss of the Merseyside derby, in which Everton clearly succumbed to Liverpool on home soil by 1: 4.
Benítez’s record on the Toffees bench, especially in recent games, has been truly appalling. The sixty-one-year-old coach joined the team in July this year and, like Mourinho, has a contract with his employer until 30 June 2024.
It just looks like he’ll be packing his bags soon. Everton are currently only 15th in the league table. In fourteen games played, Rafael Benítez’s charges have picked up only 15 points and their score (17::24) is logically not dazzling either.
The home game against Arsenal should therefore suggest a lot. This match will take place today, 6 December. It should be noted that Everton’s players have not won a home game for two and a half months!
Their last three-point gain dates back to September 25, when they beat Norwich in the sixth round of the English top flight. Since then, they have scored only two points for two draws, otherwise they have suffered 6 losses in their last eight matches!
