The final tournament will be attended by 32 national teams, which are divided into eight groups. The top two teams from each group will advance to the knockout rounds. The main group plays for 90 minutes, and the play-offs are followed by extra time and penalty kicks in the event of a draw.
The Czech national football team made it to the play-offs for the World Cup in Qatar, but lost to Sweden 0:1 and will miss the final tournament again. However, the Swedes will also miss the tournament, having lost their last qualifying match to Poland.
The last world championship was held in Russia and was won by France. The Russians will not go to Qatar because they were eliminated because of their aggression against Ukraine. Egypt and Italy, for example, who won the last EURO, are also missing.
Among the interesting matches we can look forward to, for example, the clash between Argentina and Poland, with Lionel Messi and Robert Lewandowski. We must not forget the matches between Spain and Germany and England and the USA.
The World Cup has traditionally been played in June and July, but due to the hosting in Qatar and the high temperatures, this time it will not be played until autumn and winter. The World Cup will start on 18 November and end on 21 December.
The tournament will be played in several Qatari cities. In the capital Doha, four new stadiums have been built for the event. It will also head to the cities of Al Khura, Al Wakrah, Al Rajan and Lusail. The latter will also host the final match, at the Lusail Iconic Stadium.
