Many experts said that Fabio Quartararo is not there yet. That he left the Moto2 class too soon. He was already showing his talent during last season and this year he has put the finishing touches to it all.
He’s made Yamaha the world championship rider again after six years. The last time Jorge Lorenzo won the championship in Yamaha colours. But Quartaro’s championship means so much more.
Namely, that France has its first ever World Champion! Never in the history of MotoGP has a French rider won the title. You can see his spectacular celebration for yourself.
Hilarious, isn’t it? But El Diablo, as Quartararo is nicknamed, would not have won the title at this race if it hadn’t been for the big fall of his biggest rival in the battle for the overall championship.
On lap 23, Francesco Bagnaia made a big mistake! The Ducati rider, who had led the field throughout the race, crashed and also damaged his bike significantly.
But the fact remains that Quartararo put in an absolutely magnificent performance in this race. After starting from fifteenth position, he managed to finish fourth, and for a while it even looked like he was going to finish on the podium! But on the last lap he was overtaken by Enea Bastianini.
But now enjoy a great video about the new champion!
