We’ve been waiting for it for a really long time, now it’s a reality. Jiri Prochazka will challenge Glover Teixeira for the title on May 7, a year after he last fought.
That time he put on an outstanding performance against Dominick Reyes, immediately leading to speculation that he would be the next challenger.
Aleksandar Rakic tried to prevent that, but he’ll be taking on Jan Blachowicz, who Teixeira just took the title from.
“We already knew about it for a couple of weeks, so it was a bit harder to know everything and not tell anyone. So we’ve been quiet because we’re playing a straight game with the UFC.
And I’m happy, happy that it worked out. What I said at the beginning when I joined the UFC is finally coming true, and I’m getting my say. That’s the biggest satisfaction for me and also a big motivation,” said Prochazka in an interview with iSport.
He will be fighting in the UFC for only the third time, but if he wins, he will definitely make UFC history. Should that happen, his next opponent will most likely come from the Blachowicz vs. Rakic duel.
