Barcelona is not yet in an ideal financial condition and owes many clubs a lot of money. Barcelona legend Hristo Stoichkov sees the culprit in the club’s current boss Joan Laporta.
Hristo Stoichkov spent seven years in Barcelona and during that time he gained the popularity of the local fans. But now he is not entirely happy with the state of his favourite club.
The club is not in good financial shape, and although the biggest crisis seems to have been averted, the state of the club’s coffers is still far from ideal. But the fans are hungry for success on the European stage and without money, that is almost unrealistic.
“I am concerned about Barcelona’s financial situation. They owe 2 thousand million euros and now they are investing more than a trillion euros in their stadium. Every year the debt is increasing,” Hristo Stoichkov told Relevo magazine.
Stoichkov blames Joan Laporta for deepening the crisis. According to him, the Spanish boss does not have the skills to lead the club. Thus, he has zero confidence in Stoichkov.
“Economically we are not in good hands. Football-wise, yes, he has done a lot to sign quality players and form a quality team that can win,” Stoichkov added.
It is true that the Spanish club has probably already solved the crisis. He has significantly rejuvenated the team and improved the squad, which is now competitive in the European Cup. But the important thing for the Catalan team is that it does not have to worry about its future football-wise if it can keep its players.
But as Stoichkov points out, the football side is closely linked to the economic side. But in order to get the club off the bottom, the Bulgarian footballer says it cannot be led by Joan Laporta.
