Viktoria Plzeň will face one of the toughest possible opponents on Tuesday night. They will take on Bayern Munich, who have beaten both Inter and Barcelona in the Champions League group stage. How will Viktoria enter the match at the Allianz Arena?
Of the three opponents Viktoria have faced in the group, this is the toughest. Bayern have tremendous quality, regularly take part in the final stages of the Champions League and intimidate their opponents with big allocations.
“I wouldn’t say we’re scared of them, but all the teams in our group are extra class. It’s hard to defend and we have to try to do our best,” captain Lukas Hejda was heard at the press conference.
“Tomorrow we will face perhaps the toughest opponent, probably the biggest favourite in the group and one of the biggest to win the whole Champions League,” coach Michal Bílek realises.
Viktoria has lost 1:4 to Barcelona and 0:2 to Inter Milan. Of all the participants, only Rangers have a worse record, having scored 7 goals and conceded none.
Bayern are not in the best form in the league, they have dropped a few points, but in the Champions League they have a high standard. They beat both Inter and Barcelona by 2:0.
The young Jamal Musiala, Leroy Sané and Sadio Mané have shone the brightest this season. Their speed is tremendous, which is why Viktoria’s coach doesn’t want to let them into an open defence.
“It is difficult to open the game against such teams. We knew right after the draw that it would be extremely difficult against all three of them, but on the other hand we are very happy to experience it and be part of it,” Bílek revealed that Plzen will probably face a deep block at the Allianz Arena.
