Barcelona is currently in a phase of rebuilding the squad and economically recovering. That is why, in the words of its vice-president, it cannot afford to bring in any major star.
Barcelona is not doing well at all after Messi’s departure. It is only ninth in the La Liga table and has lost its two matches in the Champions League 3-0. No wonder the fans are calling for a big signing to lift the team.
But there is no way the Catalans can afford one. Already because of the unhealthy financial situation, Lionel Messi had to leave Barcelona. It is not so likely that they will be able to find the money to bring in another star player.
This has now been confirmed by a member of the club’s management, vice-president Rafa Yuste, according to whom it is currently impossible for Barcelona to bring in any major reinforcements.
“We are going through an economic crisis. I don’t think it is possible for us to bring in a star player at the moment,” said Rafa Yuste when asked by Mundo Deportivo magazine.
“Our priority is to stabilize our economic situation and see what happens next. Barcelona has always wanted to have the best players in the team,” added a member of the Catalan club’s management.
Barcelona have to cope with the squad they currently have. Even without any major stars. Their next game is on Sunday 17 October when they welcome Valencia to their stadium.
