He recently celebrated his 31st birthday, but on 11 November he will face the next challenge of his life. Jiri Prochazka is going back for the UFC title he lost due to injury. His opponent will be Alex Pereira. What does the Moravian fighter have to say about his opponent less than a month before the fight?

On November 11th in New York we will see the sensational UFC 295 tournament. It will be dominated by the Jon Jones vs Stipe Miocic battle, but European combat sports fans will be focused on one big comeback in particular. Jiri Prochazka will be in action.

The former welterweight champion will take on Alex Pereira for the vacant title. Not long ago, the division was ruled by Jamahal Hill, who the Moravian was supposed to face upon his return, however, the American was injured and, following BJP’s example, relinquished the title.

It was on surrendering the belt after a shoulder injury ahead of a planned but unrealised rematch with Glover Teixeira that Procházka spoke briefly. “I don’t think it’s a good time to talk about it. It’s behind me. But I have to say one thing. It wasn’t my idea to vacate the title, even though I agreed to it,” MMA Fighting quotes him as saying.

The Moravian samurai was confident that he could re-enter the cage after all this and become the king of the welterweight division once again. That’s why he agreed to do it. However, Teixeira’s charge Pereira, a feared puncher, will now stand in his way.

How does Procházka rate Pereira?

We’re going to have an exciting show at Madison Square Garden. What kind of shape will Procházka be in after his injury? Will he take the same risks he did in his previous fights? The fight with Pereira offers many questions.

But it’s safe to say that it’s going to be a violent ride. Especially if the fight takes place standing up. “It’s a beautiful story and a great challenge for me. I have to say that Alex is not somehow good at wrestling and overall on the ground, but he does one thing well. He is a great striker,” says BJP.

“Pereira is great in the stand-up, but he concentrates too much on striking. He’s not that good in other styles of fighting. I’m not good enough at wrestling to fully judge, but I think I’m better than him in that aspect of fighting,” Moravan believes.

Both fighters’ careers in the UFC may be short, but they’ve been consistently excellent. Both have already been champions. Pereira ended the dominance of Israel Adesanya, who returned the defeat in an exhibition rematch. He’s already beaten Jan Blachowicz in the welterweight division.

Walk delivered one of the best fights in UFC history when he defeated Teixeira and became the first to end it on a submission. In addition, he has finished all of his fights before the limit.
