UFC fighters must be tested regularly according to the rules of the organization and are part of the anti-doping program of the USADA. However, it came as a surprise to many that Jiri Prochazka is the most frequently tested fighter.
He has been tested 51 times in the past year, and is sovereignly first ahead of second-placed Kape and Usman, who have only been tested 15 times. Why is Procházka tested so often compared to everyone else?
“I justify it to myself because I am the champion. It doesn’t bother me that much. I still get visits from USADA and sometimes it’s bothersome. But I take it that it’s part of the position I’m in now,” he said in an interview with TN.cz.
“Every day I have to enter where I’m going to sleep and train so they can find me in peace and comfort and I can submit a blood and urine sample. There are exceptions. For example, when I was on a boat in Croatia in the summer, you can enter in the app that I’m on a trip or traveling somewhere. They count on that, that those situations can happen,” he said.
It has been tested 24 times in the past month, which is a truly mind-boggling number. Fortunately, the inspectors always caught him at a predetermined location, so he doesn’t have to deal with any associated hassles.
On the contrary, he can calmly prepare for his defence, which is scheduled for 10 December. Can he beat Glover Teixeira again and defend his welterweight title?
