Walk on Sportsman of the Year: I don’t have to collect any evidence for myself. MMA is the most demanding sport and I can’t even compare it to the others
The Athlete of the Year poll is over, the winner is Ester Ledecká. However, many were angry about the tenth place, where Jiří Procházka appeared. He had a huge success, but he was not appreciated enough. What did he say after the announcement?

The Sportsman of the Year is a poll where selected sports journalists vote. It is thus possible that the results often do not reflect the views of the general public.
This time too the poll is widely discussed, the reason being Jiri Procházka. He won the UFC championship, an unprecedented achievement. So MMA fans were expecting that he could become the winner of this poll as well.
Even before the announcement, information was already coming out that this would not be the case and Procházka would instead be at the very tail end of the top ten.
And in the end it was so. Although many journalists thought he was the winner, most sent him to the tenth place. Holt these journalists probably don’t follow MMA, so they can’t appreciate the success.
“I don’t have to gather any evidence for myself to know that this is the toughest sport and it doesn’t even compare to the others. You won’t find anything like this in any other sport where one person is up against another and has to overcome them physically and mentally on all levels.
I take it that it should be rather specially rewarded. I think of MMA as the king of competitions. If you have a concept of competitiveness, it is necessarily associated with fighting. One side wrestles the other in some way. And the purest form can be nothing more than pure combat.
I mean, there’s blood, there’s aggression, some people put more art in there, but as far as competition between two beings, the only king of it is MMA. I stand by that. With all respect and humility towards others,” Jiří Procházka responded to iDNES.cz.
Opinions about his person and the sport vary, but he definitely deserved to be at least in the elite three. This is despite the fact that he had only one game last year. MMA is not only about that.
