We are less than two weeks away from the biggest fight in our MMA history. Jiri Prochazka will face Glover Teixeira for the UFC welterweight title. He says he is grateful for the fight because he was able to work on his weaknesses.

Jiri Prochazka has a huge challenge ahead of him. On June 12, he will fight for the UFC title and his opponent will be Glover Teixeira, a seasoned veteran whose best strength is his great ground work.

And that’s why there’s a lot of talk about how the Moravian fighter will handle this one. It’s not that he can’t do anything on the ground, but when possible he tries to keep the fight mostly in the standup, where he is uncompromising to his opponents.

“I have to change my style, especially on the ground. That’s why I trained with Henry Cejudo and then with my coaches. Everyone knows my strengths and my weaknesses. That’s why I started drilling my ground game and started training dangerous techniques,” Prochazka admitted in an interview with MMA Fighting.

The Moravian fighter added, among other things, that he is more confident now than ever in his ground techniques. That’s also why he’s grateful to be able to fight Teixeira. “He gave me the opportunity to improve in those aspects,” he let slip.

However, it’s a safe bet that he won’t learn in a few months what Teixeira has been doing for years. That’s why he wants to surprise the Brazilian. He wants to do things differently than the current champion’s previous opponents if the fight goes to the ground.

Walk noticed that all of Teixeira’s opponents looked resigned on the ground, not trying to get up, not trying to escape. And he wants to be different in that regard. He wants to make the champion suffer in every position he gets into in the fight.

“With all due respect, I have to be dominant on the ground. Not like other opponents who have stepped up to Glover’s game. My style is not about defense. My style is about constant attacking, constant dominance,” he is clear.
