The online series Vyšehrad has gained a lot of fans. Therefore, it is not surprising that this April, a feature film will be released in cinemas to build on the success of the series.
In 2016, the online series Vyšehrad was released, where the main character is the fictional footballer Julius Lavický. The former Sparta star had a problem with alcohol, so Sparta terminated his contract. He tried to restart his career in Vyšehrad, which is the subject of this series.
After a few years, the creators of the successful series decided to make football fans happy again. This time coming straight out with a feature film. Fylm is coming to cinemas in April.
The film is about how Julius Lavicky, nicknamed Lavi, was promoted to the second league with Vyšehrad. He thrives in football and in his personal life, where he is about to propose to his girlfriend Lucie.
The problem arises when he finds out at his wedding that he has an eight-year-old son to take care of. This will certainly not please his newlywed wife. At the same time, he gets into financial difficulties, so he solves his problem by taking a loan from the wrong party.
“The film is a bigger fairy tale than the show. For adults. It’s uncompromising. But it has a big overlap, it has a mission in life and sports, it tries to go more in depth. Inaddition to following Lavi and his life, it also tries in some way to draw attention to the ills of Czech football, the affairs of the highest representatives of the Czech football environment and the topic of fair play,” Jakub Štáfek, the actor, director and producer of the film, explained to novinky.cz.
The film features many familiar faces for football fans. In the film we can see, for example, Tomáš Rosický, Patrik Berger, Jan Koller, Vladimír Šmicer, Tomáš Řepka, Jakub Voráček and many other prominent Czech athletes.
The film was shot in 2020 and will be released in cinemas this April.
