Vrba: The goal is to advance and play Europe in the spring
Sparta Prague will face a crucial match against Brøndby Copenhagen from Denmark, which will decide their future in the European Cups. The continuation in the Europa League after the loss in Glasgow is unfortunately no longer in the cards, but it is a direct battle for third place in the group, which ensures qualification for the spring part of the Conference Europa League.
Sparta Prague will face a crucial match against Danish side Brøndby Copenhagen, which will decide their future in the European Cups. The continuation in the Europa League after the loss in Glasgow is unfortunately no longer in the cards, but it is a direct battle for third place in the group, which ensures qualification for the spring part of the Conference Europa League. Sparta midfielder Ladislav Krejci Jr. and coach Pavel Vrba answered questions from journalists during the pre-match press conference.
Leten players are well aware that they are playing for a lot on Thursday night. The defeat to Rangers and the lost chance to continue in the competition should be put behind them, because there is still a chance to continue in Europe, albeit at a lower level.
” We are looking forward to it, we know what we are playing for. And we will go for our goal, which is to win the match. We are always talking about our goals, what we want to play. We discussed that this is an extremely important game. Now we have to show it on the field.”
There was also a question about his new role on the team. The young Spartan talent alternates from his classic position of defensive midfielder to stopper when needed, and the same was the case in the last match in Karviná.
“At the moment I’m playing at stopper, our squad has pushed us to it. That’s how I perceived it, I have no problem with it. But of course I miss scoring goals,” said Krejci Jr.
“They have a well-organized game, they play a lot of forward play, they have very good attacking support. We’ll build a lot on the game they played against us,” said Danish coach Vrba.
The first match in Copenhagen was a goalless draw. Sparta had more of the game then, but it was not enough to win. On Thursday, however, they do not want to calculate with a draw, which would be enough for Letná.
“You know very well that you can’t calculate with a draw. It never pays to play for it. We’ll see how the match develops, if it’s tied a few minutes before the end, we probably won’t move forward. But from the beginning we will want to win,” added the coach of the team from Letná.
