Markéta Vondroušová will fight for the final of the WTA tournament in Dubai today. She advanced to the top four after a battle with Ukraine’s Jestremska. The older of the Fruhvirt sisters will play in the ITF quarterfinals.

The Czech tennis player will make her first appearance this season in the semifinals of the WTA 500 tournament in Dubai. Markéta Vondroušová defeated Jelena Yestremska (146th) of Ukraine in the quarterfinals in two sets 7-5 and 6-4.

The first set did not go well for the native of Sokolov, as she was already down 2-5 and fought off a set point. However, a great performance and five games won in a row secured Vondroušová’s victory in the first set.

In the second set, both players took serve right from the start. However, at 4:4 the Czech player broke and managed to finish the match.

Her opponent in the semifinals will be Russian Veronika Kudermetova (31st). In her quarter-final match she defeated Swiss Teichmann after more than two and a half hours in three sets (6-2, 5-7, 6-4).

Although the Russian was not in good form at the end of the season, she reached the final of the Melbourne tournament and then the third round of the Australian Open.

The two players have never met on the circuit. Vondrousova had to go through qualification, but the playing load is similar for both of them as Kudermetova is also in the semi-finals of doubles.

The quarterfinals of the ITF tournament await the promising Czech Linda Fruhvirtova. In Cancun, Mexico, she first defeated the 176th player in the world, American Parks, and then knocked out Ukrainian Bondarenko in the 2nd round.

In the quarter-final match, the older of the Fruhvirt sisters will face the 212th player in the world, Dutch Hogenkamp. The latter narrowly missed out on the main draw of the Australian Open at the start of the season.
