The right-back knows Tomáš Souček from their time together at Slavia Prague. Their synergy has carried over to England, where they play together at West Ham London. It was Soucek, the ex-Slav captain, who had a big influence on Coufal’s transfer to the British Isles.
Vladimir Coufal shared with UEFA.tv how he perceives the burly midfielder on and off the pitch. According to his description, Soucek is a man approaching perfection at the very least in terms of character.
“Of course, playing with Suk (Soucek) is special because he is an exceptional footballer. He has a great feel for the game and, as I have said since the days of Slavia, we are very connected. When he has the ball, I know exactly where to run to help him and I think it works the same way the other way around,” he began to talk about the game cooperation with Tomáš Souček.
“He is his own man. He’s very modest, he doesn’t show himself in private, he’s a very easy-going guy. He loves his family, he loves his peace. He doesn’t need expensive things to show what a guy he is. He is just a great person and I am very happy that we are together as friends,” he went on to speak highly of his colleague’s character.
“We are together all the time. I’ve never had a day when he got on my nerves. We always have something to talk about, so it’s great,” the Czech national team member and Hammer Vladimir Coufal concluded the interview.
