Vit Krejci has been fired by the Atlanta Hawks! Where will his basketball steps go this time?

Vit Krejci was the only Czech legionnaire to play in the NBA. He spent the last season in the most famous basketball competition in the jersey of Atlanta Hawks, which now terminated his contract and he became a free player.

Krejci did not make the Hawks in one year

The Czech international joined the Atlanta team before the start of last season when he was traded from the Oklahoma City Thunder. He came to a better team, so he had a tough test to see if he could succeed.

But he didn’t. Not once all season did he start as a starting five. Because of this, he only logged 165 minutes on the floor, scoring 36 points.

Krejci still had one year left on his contract, but the Hawks management decided to terminate his contract. He failed to impress, so he still got a chance to convince. Atlanta is a team that is looking for more success in the NBA, so they don’t give young players as much room.

He showed his quality with the national team during the Olympic qualification

In the last few days, he joined the Czech basketball team that was fighting for a place at the 2024 Olympics. He became the driving force of the team, but even his great performance was not enough to qualify.

In the first game, the Czechs surprised the Estonians 77:74 and Krejci was named the best player of the game. He collected 20 points, six rebounds and six assists. From Israel came a hard lesson (67:80), where he collected six points, five rebounds and six assists.

In their last game, the Czechs defeated Macedonia 94:82 with Krejci contributing 16 points, five rebounds and eight assists, but finished third in the table based on a worse score.

Krejci was able to take the leader’s place in the national team’s jersey in the absence of Tomas Satoransky, and it was clear that the role suited him. These positive performances could hopefully catch the attention of a team in the NBA. But if no offer comes, there will definitely be interest in Europe for the young Czech.
