Real Madrid took on Real Sociedad on Saturday night in the fifth round of LaLiga. The score remained goalless at half-time, but the visitors won two penalties in the second half to win 2-0.

In the 58th minute, it was Vinícius Júnior who scored the first penalty kick. In the 75th minute, Kylian Mbappé took the second penalty and, like his offensive colleague, was successful.

However, apart from Real’s victory, there was something else to analyse on Sunday and Monday afternoon. For the record, the White Ballet will play a Champions League match against Stuttgart on Tuesday, whereupon coach Carlo Ancelotti took the opportunity to revisit the events of Saturday.

Vinícius celebrated his goal with a gesture towards the Real Sociedad fans. According to the Spanish media, they shouted at him before the game.

“What has happened to Vinícius over the years is unbearable. I can understand booing the opponents, but insults during the warm-up are unacceptable,” Ancelotti said at a press conference, whose words were also quoted by beIN SPORTS.

Ancelotti stood up for his star, joined by captain Carvajal

Ancelotti urged everyone to focus less on Vinícius and more on what is happening in the stadiums. He also noted that the aim of such behaviour by fans is to destabilise the player’s psyche, as he is a significant threat on the pitch.

Dani Carvajal agreed with his coach and suggested harsher punishments for those who commit racist outbursts.

“As captain of Real Madrid, I strongly oppose any racial insults in our league and in football. We need to introduce stricter protocols to eradicate these problems,” Carvajal added.
