Real Madrid are playing in great form at the start of the season under new coach Carlo Ancelotti, which has logically been reflected in the performances of some players. Among them, for example, the rising Brazilian star Vinícius Júnior.
In the past, the White Ballet’s transfer policy focused on signing the biggest stars in world football, but in the last few years there has been a change. The Spanish big club, led by Florentino Perez, is now focusing mainly on young talent.
Thanks to this strategy, it was Vinícius, whom Real bought from Flamengo in 2017, who made his way to the Santiago Bernabéu. However, he didn’t arrive in Spain until a year later after turning 18.
During his first three seasons in Madrid colours, he showed glimpses of his abilities to the fans, but was often accused of inconsistent performances and very poor finishing.
Last season in particular, the demanding Real fans ran out of patience and questioned the transfer. However, Vinícius’ great start to the 21/22 season makes his previous woes a thing to forget.
His goal came in the first league round when he contributed to the 4-1 win over Alaves. In the next round against Levante he scored twice and contributed significantly to the 3-3 draw. In both games he came off the bench and scored 3 goals in just 57 minutes.
Since then, he has been starting as a starting line-up player and has been consolidating his position with every game. In Wednesday’s game against Mallorca, although Marco Asensio and Karim Benzema were the main stars, Vinícius also gave a great performance.
In 6 league games, he has already scored 5 goals and 2 assists, plus one penalty. He has worked on his finishing, you can see that he is playing very well at the moment. In attack, he gets on well with the ageless Karim Benzema.
All indications are that he is on course for a fantastic season, which will help him to fulfil his enormous potential. La Liga needs new superstars in its ranks and one of them could be Vinícius.
The league’s president Javier Tebas himself has hinted that it could be him and Barcelona’s Ansu Fati who will become the main face of the Spanish competition in the future.
