Viktoria Plzeň will play their first Champions League home game of the season against Inter Milan. It is a clash of two teams defeated in the first round, with the Italian side the clear favourite. How will the match play out?
In the first match, Plzeň went to Camp Nou, where they lost to Barcelona 1:5. The difference in quality was huge, probably nobody expected to get points.
Inter, on the other hand, had to pick up points if they want to advance from the group. But at home they lost to Bayern 0:2, Sané scored once and D’Ambrosio scored the second goal.
Inter cannot afford to falter against Plzen if they want to think about progressing from the group. At the start of the new season they are not in ideal form, having already lost twice in six league games, once to Lazio and most importantly in the derby against AC Milan.
After six rounds, Inter are only fifth, plus a defeat in the Champions League. Viktoria are doing well in the league, apart from the draw in Teplice in the first round they are 100%. Both teams were in the mood for the match, with Plzeň beating Sigma Olomouc 3:2 and Inter overcoming FC Torino 1:0.
Viktoria have the toughest possible group, besides Inter they face Bayern and Barcelona. If they want to get points, surprise somewhere and maybe by some miracle fight for third place, they have to go through Inter.
The latter is the weakest of the top three, although of course it also has great strength. So it should use its home game against Milan to attack the points.
In the preliminary rounds, Viktoria played 6 matches, of which at least three goals were scored in five. Moreover, Inter has the quality to unlock Plzeň’s defensive block. Therefore, it is an interesting bet on Inter to win and two goals scored.
