Viktoria Plzeň is one step away from the coveted Europe! What did coach Michal Bílek say before Sofia?

Viktoria Plzeň is slowly but surely returning to its old ways under Michal Bílek and could again at least slightly bother Prague’s S in the league. Plzen’s footballers were not far away from a blunder when they were given huge problems by Welsh side TNS in the 3rd round of the Conference League. But a miraculous turnaround, which sent Viktoria to the last round of the ECL, sparked the Victorian flames to the maximum and now everything is going well in the team!

Since the promotion over TNS, the Pilsen team has successively defeated Liberec, CSKA Sofia and Karviná. In all matches Michal Bílek’s charges have kept a clean record. These are nice results, but the Bulgarian mission in Sofia can quickly erase them if they lack concentration.

Plzen goes into the rematch with CSKA Sofia with a two-goal lead and all indications are that Europe will return to Plzen. But beware, no underestimation! The Bulgarian vice-champion has nothing to lose and will probably throw everything into the attack. What did Pilsen coach Michal Bílek say before the game?

“Nothing is finished, we managed one game, we will need to repeat a similar performance. We haven’t scored in the last three games, we need to continue that,” said Bílek at the press conference.

“The decisive moment is coming, which will decide everything. I can feel the determination of the players, I believe we can do it. The way to success is through activity, not defending the lead, we want to play the game in the same active way as the first game at home.”

The words of the Victorian coach give hope and hopefully they will prove true. If the Pilsen players advance, they will fill the club’s decimated coffers. Plus they would gain important points for the Czech coefficient.
