VIDEO: Wow! Octagon almost offered a mutual knockout of both fighters. But Velickovic reacted quicker and tightened his opponent
Ostrava hosted the biggest tournament in the history of Oktagon on Saturday night. Tipsport Gamechanger started here. One of the best moments was the fight between Bojan Velickovic and Ion Surdue, when the fans almost saw a mutual knockout.
An interesting geopolitical duel took place, pitting Serbian Bojan Velickovic and Moldovan Ion Surdu against each other, with the former having already gained a huge amount of experience in his career and the latter still having everything ahead of him.
Surdu has huge potential, the 27-year-old fighter went into the fight with a 12-4 record, and already at the press conference he showed confidence and actually zero respect for his opponent, who has been through, for example, the UFC’s stellar organization.
It was the 34-year-old Velickovic who had a loss to Leandro Silva, whom he lost to on points last October. But otherwise, he held a 21-12 record and registered one of his wins against Jiri Prochazka a few years ago.
It was an attractive match, but unfortunately it didn’t last long. It was over in the first round and it was mostly all standing. Both fighters showed that they have hard punches and we lived to see the moment when they both hit each other so hard that they went down at the same time.
Velickovic proved to be in better condition on that one, reacting promptly and catching a shaken Surdu well. He began to choke him and forced him to tap out.
