VIDEO: What an entrance! Substitute Alaba’s first touch after a superb through ball decides Real Madrid’s win
David Alaba made the difference in the first round of La Liga with a stunning moment for Real Madrid. Straight from the bench, he took a direct free-kick and converted it in incredible fashion.
Real Madrid entered the new Spanish league season with a win. Anyway, the 1: 2 victory from Almería’s soil was hard on Carlo Ancelotti’s team, which won the Spanish league and the Champions League last season.
The defensive foursome of Vázquez – Rüdiger – Nacho – Mendy showed serious cracks right from the start of the match and already in the sixth minute the agile Belgian youngster Ramazani scored after a breakaway. Despite Real’s slight superiority, the home side went into the booths happier.
Going into the second half, Ancelotti tried to increase the creativity of his charges with the arrival of Luka Modric and Eden Hazard. This was successful in the 61st minute and Real equalised with a goal from Lucas Vázquez.
Los Blancos players were conquering the home side’s whitewash, however, for a long time it looked like the White Ballet would also lose points after a stumble by rival Barcelona. Almería’s stubborn defence resisted their opponents’ attacking efforts for a long time.
However, in the 75th minute, a moment that proved to be the turning point. A foul on Luka Modric was committed a few metres from the edge of the penalty area and Real played a direct free kick. That’s when David Alaba, who had been substituted until then, came on.
He replaced Ferland Mendy and went straight to the ball. He couldn’t have dreamed up a better first touch. The curled ball grazed the bar of the home goalkeeper and went straight into the net.
With the score unchanged, Alaba became the hero of the game and the round. Judge for yourself in the video below, a beautiful and extraordinary football moment.
