Wolverhampton responded to injuries to their strikers Jimenez and Kalajdzic by bringing in a player who is well known to Premier League fans to spearhead the attack. Spanish striker Diego Costa returns to the English top flight after 5 years.
He has been very successful in this competition, scoring 52 league goals in 89 games for Chelsea in London, and he will now try to improve this record as a Wolves player.
They announced his arrival with a themed video of the player holding 3 wolves on a chain, growling and baring his teeth.
If you thought the filming could be quite scary, you’re probably right. After all, Costa himself confirmed it.
“I was scared to death. When I was holding the chain, I thought, what if this wolf is thinking of pouncing on me? What if it attacks all three of us?’,” commented the experience to Wolverhampton’s newest signing for the club’s website.
“Even when they came to sniff my leg I was a bit worried. They were wolves, not dogs! It was a very interesting experience but not a very pleasant one. I have five dogs at home, but not one wolf!”
Given Costa’s ferocious nature, perhaps the hot-blooded striker will now terrify Premier League defenders in a similar way that wolves terrified him. But he will not have an easy start. For Wolves face Manchester City at Molineux Stadium on Saturday.
