VIDEO: Watch how Salah gave away the penalty. Liverpool still managed to equalise at the end
Mohamed Salah conceded an important penalty against Arsenal, but despite this setback Liverpool got at least a point in a thrilling 2-2 draw against Arsenal

Football fans watched a great football spectacle this weekend. Liverpool’s match with Arsenal was literally an advertisement for football.
According to the Expected Goals (xG) statistic, which shows the amount and size of chances, Liverpool lacked mainly accuracy in the final third, as Arsenal significantly outperformed them in this statistic. The same is true for the total number of shots.
The home side were more active and, especially in the second half, they squeezed Arsenal in several moments. One such situation also resulted in a penalty kick when Rob Holding inadvertently tripped Diego Jota.
The penalty should have given Liverpool a proper kick, perhaps adding the necessary strength for an eventual turnaround. As expected, the usual enforcer Mohamed Salah stepped up to the ball, looking to make amends after a missed penalty against Bournemouth.
To the surprise of all the home fans, his shot went just wide of the left post, but from the opposite side to what Liverpool supporters would have wanted. Even Jürgen Klopp was shocked by the situation, as the replay showed, as he first rejoiced and then realised that Salah had missed the gear.
Despite this missed chance, Liverpool managed to close the gap on Arsenal when Roberto Firmino equalised late on.
This was Arsenal’s first loss in the league for a long time, but they still have a fairly comfortable lead.
