Vladimir Darida scored a truly magnificent goal in the last Greek league game against PAOK! However, his successful long-range attempt was not enough to score points, as Aris lost 2: 3 at the field of their rivals.

Thirty-two-year-old Czech midfielder Darida moved elsewhere at the beginning of January this year after many years at German club Hertha Berlin.

As an uncontracted free agent, he left for Greece, where he is currently playing for Aris Thessaloniki. Darida has played a total of 190 competitive games for Berlin, scoring 16 goals and assisting 29 others.

In the current season with his current employer, he has appeared in 18 games so far, scoring eight goals (5+3).

Aris are currently in the Greek Super League group title race and are fighting for a place to secure a place in the Europa Conference League. However, he has the whole situation in his hands. With 47 points, Thessaloniki holds the fifth place, which secures the last place in Europe.

They are 16 points behind fourth-placed PAOK and 29 points behind competition leader AEK Athens. On the other hand, they have a seven-point lead over sixth-placed Volos, with only three league rounds remaining.

It was in the last round of the league that Aris faced its city rival PAOK. The derby ended unsuccessfully for the visitors, with PAOK winning 3:2 on home turf. However, Darida scored a truly magnificent goal.

His goal in the 70th minute brought the score to 2:2, which would give Aris another point after two straight wins. Unfortunately for Darid’s side, Andrija Zivkovic snatched the lead in the 78th minute, so PAOK took all three points and are now just three points behind third-placed Olympiakos.

However, a much more important match in terms of qualification for the Conference League awaits Aris on Wednesday, May 3. They will challenge Volos at home and if they beat them, no one will take away Darid and co.’s European ticket.
