No match should end like this. Rafael Nadal defeated Alexander Zverev in the semifinals of the French Open, but under circumstances he certainly didn’t want. His opponent was badly injured.

It was a great battle, but unfortunately it ended prematurely. It all started very promisingly for Alexander Zverev. In the first set, he played a great game. He got Rafael Nadal’s serve right from the start, but eventually the first set went to a tie-break.

In the tie-break Nadal had to fight off an uncomfortable situation. Zverev was leading 6::2, but the Spaniard turned it around and won 10::8.

The second set was quite unusual. Both players lost their serve in eight games together. The second set also went to a tie-break. And that’s where the match was ended.

Zverev injured his leg playing the ball. The arena went silent, and all you could hear was his screams. Nadal quickly went over to see what his condition was.

Zverev left the court in a wheelchair, however, once he was given crutches, he came out to say goodbye to the fans, receiving a well-deserved round of applause from everyone present.

Nadal additionally went to hug and support him. Less than two sets of the match lasted more than three hours. It was indeed an even battle, with several long and beautiful exchanges.
