Arsenal won the 27th round of the Premier League, 3-0 at Fulham. The London derby was decided in the first half by Gabriel Magalhaes, Gabriel Martinelli and Martin Odegaard.
The opening quarter of an hour was very cautious from both sides, neither team wanted to make a mistake leading to a goal. In the 16th minute, Antonee Robinson knocked the ball into his own net after a Gabriel Martinelli shot, but the goal was eventually disallowed for offside.
The Gunners didn’t give up though and four minutes later Granit Xhaka fired in a slip, but Bernd Leno intervened. And in the 21st minute Arsenal celebrated a regular goal, Gabriel Magalhaes headed the ball home after a corner kick.
Fulham’s defence looked confused, and in the 27th minute they scored for the second time, again with a header from Gabriel Martinelli.
The Gunners continued to entertain, the next big chance missed by Leandro Trossard. In stoppage time, the Belgian midfielder set up a scoring opportunity for Martin Odegaard, who increased the score to 3-0 before half-time.
After the change of sides, the home side were more active, but were unable to threaten the Gunners’ defence properly. It was not until the 69th minute that Bobby Decordova-Reid fired dangerously, but Aaron Ramsdale was able to deal with the help of the defence.
The national goalkeeper also dealt with Tosin Adarabioy’s header after a standard situation six minutes later. Gabriel Jesus could have celebrated his return from injury with a goal in the 85th minute, but Leno kept it out.
Arsenal finished the game with a 3-0 win to stay five points ahead of Manchester City. Fulham are eighth, just a point behind seventh-placed Brighton.
