In South America, football is an absolute religion and fandom is then a culture. For Argentines, there is nothing they would rather do than go and cheer on their favourite club. And then it’s reflected in the atmosphere in the stands.

Football atmosphere is a beautiful thing. The players agree that without it, there is practically no point in playing football. Just remember how half-hearted the games were during the pandemic when they were played in front of empty stadiums.
It makes a huge difference when 50, 60 or even 80 thousand spectators turn up for a game. And if they still create a great atmosphere, that’s a bonus.
Some of the best fans have long been Argentinian teams. Whether it’s Boca Juniors, River Plate or San Lorenzo.
In last night’s game, River Plate fans were in great form. Their team took on Brazil’s Internacional in the first match of the Copa Libertadores eight-finals.
Enner Valencia sent the visitors into the lead, but River turned the score around in the second half thanks to two goals from Solari. And it was probably thanks to the fantastic atmosphere in the stadium.
the 86,000 spectators created a boisterous backdrop, which belongs to South America, especially Argentina. When the whole sector is roaring, it’s an incredible sight.
River Plate are led as coach by former Bayern Munich stopper Martín Demichelis. The rematch in Brazil is scheduled for August 9.
