Paris Saint-Germain won their home match against Troyes 4:3, but Christophe Galtier’s men had to turn the match around. Lionel Messi made his mark in the goal statistics of this match by scoring a great goal and assisting Neymar’s next one.
Paris Saint-Germain took on Troyes in the 13th round of the French top flight, and this match brought more of a fight than probably everyone involved expected. Moreover, the fans didn’t have to wait long for a goal.
Mama Balde opened the scoring in the third minute and sent the visitors into the lead. Twenty-one minutes later, however, Carlos Soler equalised after an assist from Neymar – 1-1. With no more goals in the first half, the game was tied.
Surprisingly for the home team’s supporters, the second half started similarly to the first, with a Troyes goal. And once again it was Balde who took advantage of Wilson Odoberto’s accurate pass straight into the penalty area.
The Troyes lead didn’t last long, however. Just three minutes later, after a pass from Ramos, Argentine Messi took the ball and shot from distance into the bottom right corner of the opponent’s goal to level the match at 2-2.
Neymar, assisted by Messi, gave PSG the lead seven minutes later. The 35-year-old football legend made his mark in the goal scoring statistics of the competition.
But all the goals were far from over. In the 77th minute, Kylian Mbappé got the advantage of a penalty kick and with a shot from eleven metres he did not hesitate – 4: 2!
Troyes did not let themselves be embarrassed, and even though they were not able to equalise with PSG by the end of the match, Ante Palaversa at least adjusted the score to the final 4: 3 for the Parisian club in the 88th minute.
With this victory, the Parisians consolidated their position at the top of the league table (35 points), with a five-point lead over second-placed Racing Lens.
Moreover, Messi has literally rewritten history by surpassing Pelé in goals scored and assists. It is therefore an exaggeration to say that Messi is the new football god.
