Lionel Messi has changed Inter Miami beyond recognition since arriving in Florida. From a team that celebrated winning a game here and there, he created an unstoppable machine that managed to reach the first trophy in the club’s history on Saturday night.

Before he arrived, the Florida team had two wins in its last fourteen games. Since he has been in the lineup, however, Inter Miami has not lost. And that was confirmed on Saturday night when Nashville learned the power of the team owned by David Beckham.

Lionel Messi has scored in every game he has played for Inter so far. The one against Nashville was no exception. It was the final of the Leagues Cup, a cup competition in which teams from the top American and top Mexican leagues compete.

Nashville was a tough opponent for Miami. After all, it is the fourth best team in the MLS Eastern Conference, with twenty points more than Inter. In addition, they went through Club América and Monterrey on their way to the Leagues Cup final.

Messi could have decided the match later in the game in his team’s favour, however, he only hit the bar in the 71st minute. The match came down to penalties, Messi took the first one and converted it.

After that, it was up to his teammates. In the end, they were more successful in the eleven-match series, with Alba and Busquets also scoring, in addition to Messi.

Messi thus won Miami’s first club trophy and became the top scorer in the Leagues Cup with 10 goals. The fairytale continues!
