Slavia’s youth players are out of the UEFA Youth League, they lost 2:4 at home to Genk. The Belgian side led twice in the match, but in the end the Belgian team turned the promotion joy to their side.
Slavia won the opening match 2:1, but the Belgian favourite was promoted anyway. The return match was not bad at all.
In the 9th minute, Adam Pudil opened the scoring and many believed that promotion was close. But after less than half an hour of play, Mika Godts tied the score.
Shortly before the end of the first half, however, the Slavs scored again, Victor Ogungbayi worked the ball on the whitewash and gave the visitors’ goalkeeper no chance to react.
Two minutes after returning to the pitch, however, the game was level again, Sekou Diawara getting his head in. Goalkeeper Adam Dvorak then made an excellent save, but again went down in the 80th minute.
Godts added a third goal after a counter-attack to send his team into the lead. And to the misfortune of the Slavs, the visitors added the decisive goal in the 90th minute, scored by 17-year-old Faissal Al Mazyani.
Miloš Pudil received a red card at the end of the match and the result was 2: 4. After the match, things were still happening, the referee had a tough job in the melee of both teams.
The guests celebrated provocatively in front of the home team’s bench, who were far from liking it. Thus, besides yellow cards, three more red cards were issued. Pavel Behensky and Jan Tredel received them for Slavia, while Maarten Swerts will not play for Genk next time.
