Real Madrid did not falter in the second round of La Liga, beating Celta Vigo 4-1 at the Estadio Balaídos. Benzema’s penalty was answered by Iago Aspas, but Real Madrid took the lead in the first half thanks to a wonderful shot by Luka Modric.
In the second half, Vinícius Junior and Federico Valverde added further goals and the game was decided. Carlo Ancelotti therefore made a substitution around the 70th minute and Antonio Rüdiger came on for Dani Carvajal.
Already at Chelsea, the German defender was famous for taking uncharacteristically long strides and waving his arms when he was ahead of his opponent and covering a ball heading into the box, for example.
And he showed the same run in a Real Madrid jersey. In the 85th minute, Rüdiger took possession of the ball in front of his own whitewash, dragged it up the flank where he passed it to Benzema and raced down the wing for a Valverde pass.
It was at that point that he pulled off his unorthodox run, stretching his legs and arms and making the whole thing look very comical. So much so, in fact, that the commentator couldn’t contain his laughter and started laughing out loud.
After a clash with Benzema, he even got on the end of a cross, but his shot was blocked by the home team.
Fans have been having a lot of fun online over his run, with the 29-year-old stopper even showing it off in training.
Here are the stunts he performed back at Chelsea.
