Real Madrid had a dream evening on Wednesday. In the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey, they turned the tide after losing the first leg 0-1 and demolished Barcelona 4-0 at the Camp Nou. But the players were perhaps even happier when Carlo Ancelotti announced they had the day off.

Los Blancos didn’t start the game in the best way. In the first half, they didn’t get many chances, and in the 45th minute Courtois grabbed a huge Barcelona chance.

And that was the turning point, as Karim Benzema scored the first goal of the game immediately from a break, although it was eventually awarded to Vinícius.

Real came into the second half hungry and with the goal of destroying Barcelona. Karim Benzema shot down the rivals with a hat-trick, and he threw away two more great chances.

This is quite a feather in Real Madrid’s cap, as the Copa del Rey is not a competition in which Los Blancos excel. They reached the final of the domestic cup for the first time since 2014, when they beat Barcelona in the final.
