Real Madrid continue to be unbeaten in La Liga. This weekend, the toughest possible opponent arrived, Betis was the only one to have collected 9 points in the first three rounds together with Real. However, Los Blancos managed to win the match thanks to a beautiful lob by Vinícius.
Due to the stadium rebuilding, Real Madrid played the first three rounds away and managed to do all of them brilliantly. First, they beat newcomer Almería, then they beat Celta Vigo and then they beat Espanyol, so in total they got 9 points with a score of 9:3.
In their first home game at the Santiago Bernabéu, Los Blancos welcomed Real Betis, so it was a battle for first place, as the Andalusians were the only ones, along with Real, who didn’t lose a point.
The Merengues started the first game of the season in front of their fans with a great pace. They clearly dominated the game, were the better side and the reward was well deserved.
Already in the ninth minute, stopper David Alaba headed the ball, Karim Benzema pulled down a defender with a great move and Vinícius ran into the resulting hole. The Brazilian youngster ran onto the ball on the whitewash and with a deft lob, he outmuscled Ruia Silva and sent Real into the lead.
The home side continued to be the better team, but in the 17th minute the visitors equalised from a rare opportunity. Real Madrid’s Sergio Canales equalised after a nicely worked through ball, but as befits a goal, he did not celebrate in front of the home stands.
Real entered the second half with a clear objective. To convert the game’s superiority into a winning goal. And so Ancelotti laid the foundations for that idea in the 63rd minute when he sent on Federico Valverde.
Just 2 minutes later, the Uruguayan speedster ran onto Carvajal’s pass behind the defence and, with a pass underneath him, found Rodrygo who ripped into the net.
Two Brazilian youngsters thus shot Real to victory and Los Blancos secured their place at the top of the table. On Wednesday, they will face Celtic Glasgow in the Champions League.
