Marcus Rashford is in the form of his life. He seems to have picked up some good vitamins in Qatar, as he’s unstoppable since returning from the World Cup. In the cup game against Nottingham, he scored after a solo effort across half the pitch.
He’s already been damned after a bad season last year. In the Premier League, he started 25 games out of 38 and scored just 4 goals. His performances were also poor, he looked completely disinterested and burnt big chances.
Since the start of the new season though, it’s been a slightly different Rashford. He scored against Liverpool in a 2-1 win, and two weeks later he knocked Arsenal off the lead with two goals and an assist. By the WC break he added 3 more goals in the Conference League and 2 in the Premier League.
He left for Qatar already in quite good form and he showed it in the England jersey, although he was not in the starting line-up. In the first game against Iran he scored as a substitute, with Wales he scored twice. But he put on quite a show after his return from the World Cup.
In 10 games he scored ten times and added two assists, apart from the duel with Crystal Palace he scored in every game. He is virtually unstoppable at the moment, as the first EFL Cup semi-final against Nottingham showed.
Already in the 6th minute he took the ball still in his own half and went down the left flank to duel with two opposing players. He was looking to switch the ball between them, with a bit of luck and a slight bounce, he made it into the box where he flicked the ball onto his left foot and cleared it towards the bar.
In the 45th minute, fresh signing Wout Weghorst scored for the first time in a new jersey. Bruno Fernandes added the third goal in the 89th minute.
Manchester United will face Reading in the FA Cup this weekend, with the EFL Cup semi-final rematch against Nottingham on Wednesday.
