In the 2022/23 league season, Chelsea are currently in tenth place in the Premier League. They are an unattainable 29 points behind leaders Arsenal and with 34 points to their name, the only question is whether there will be European cups at Stamford Bridge next season.
The Blues are not in form, this was confirmed by the first match of the Champions League eight-finals, in which they fell 0-1 at Borussia Dortmund and although nothing was lost, the fans feared another disappointment after the previous performances.
The match started 10 minutes late due to traffic complications on the way to the stadium, however, shortly after the kick-off we saw the first chance, which was given to Joao Félix.
He shot towards the left post, but goalkeeper Alexander Meyer dealt with it. In the 17th, Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga was also on hand to keep out a direct kick from Marco Reus.
After less than half an hour the home side had a chance again, but Kai Havertz only hit the bar. A few minutes later, he even enjoyed a beautiful goal, but it was preceded by an offside by Raheem Sterling and the stands were silent again.
Sterling, however, played the starring role of the first half to perfection in the 43rd minute when, after a hilarious pass, he burned through everything in his path to send Chelsea into the lead.
Thus, Chelsea won the first half and we can look forward to an open game in the second. Neither team has the advantage at the moment.
